The best advice for a young, first-time startup CEO

Do not buy into motivational videos/quotes/wallpaper.
I know a lot of people that go this way.
They believe that because they watched a motivational video on YouTube they are going to kill it.
Wrong.
Motivation is an industry. An industry that makes a helluvah lot of money.
  • Speakers
  • Wallpapers
  • Quotes
  • Articles
  • Sales
You surely at least once found of these related to motivation, well stay away from it.
Motivation is internal.
It should never be external.
Watching videos to get motivated sucks. Can’t you be a hero without watching a stupid video of a guy yelling at you?
Oh, and don’t forget that “motivation” industry doesn’t bring ANYTHING on the table except “feel good” vibes.
Most videos/articles/quotes/speakers say the exact same things!
  • Work harder
  • Work a lot
  • Take life by the horns
Yet, all those are far away from any actual tip.
Does anyone ever profited from these tips?
No.
They aren’t practical. That’s just feel good vibes that are dispensed at every watcher.
The worst is that after watching one of these videos, you feel like you did something great. While all you did was… Nothing.
  • Did you move closer to your goal? Well… No.
  • Did you learn something valuable? Well… No.
  • Will you do something more? Well… No.
Do not buy into this kind of content, it’s highly addictive and will do nothing except breaking your habits.
Be smart.
Be your own motivator.
