What to do when competitors copy your business model

Do what McDonald’s did. They focused on their customers and on their own business.
McDonald’s has been a public company for over 50 years, so the details of their finances and strategy are all in the public domain.
Their standard operating procedures are easy to obtain, anyone can get a job there and see how it all works, there are tons of books about McDonald’s including ones written by Ray Kroc himself.
Everyone and anyone can copy them, and thousands have tried.
McDonald’s have just made sure that, for the money their customers pay, the experience they get is great.
For my own startups, I no longer care much about my competitors. I know that our success or failure lies far less in them than many believe. If we’re going to fail it’s likely to be for one reason - we didn’t serve our customers well enough…
