The smartest maneuver ever seen in marketing a product

An ad campaign that took a company from 2.5% market share to half of the entire import market for their industry segment. They did it in an ultra competitive market. Vodka.
The year was 1980. Absolut Vodka needed something to work. They decided to focus on the shape of it’s bottle.
Why?
I have no idea. The bottle didn’t have a unique shape back then. It doesn’t have one now. They’ve barely changed it in 25 years. That’s why it’s smart and creative.
Anyways,
When it was all said and done, Absolut had created about 1,500 ads over the course of 25 years. That’s right, they created 1500 ads - about a bottle - within 25 years.
It’s the longest uninterrupted marketing campaign in history.
The bottle isn’t even interesting.
They changed the industry by telling stories people wanted to be a part of.
Here are some of the ads that captivated a nation:
Hat tip to Stephen Spielberg
Absolut achieved success because they knew what would appeal to their customers. They immersed themselves in their market and dominated an aspect. Think about that the next time you want to launch a marketing campaign.
