Android apps that makes a phone a great tool

  • Settle Up (Android Apps on Google Play)
Ever been to a trip and found it mind numbingly difficult to keep track of who paid how much and for whom?
    Not anymore.

With Settle Up, you create a group at the beginning of a trip. You add all your friends (their emails get added to, if they are syced with your contacts). You record every "transaction" - amount paid, by whom and for whom (default is for all, but you can alter that). After every transaction, it shows a summary of the payments, the total expenses incurred and paid by each individual, their outstanding balances and who should pay to whom. It will also tell you who should get the next cheque (the guy with the largest negative difference between amount paid and spent).

At  the end of the tour you can mail the entire payment history and summary to all the participants with one click.

  • Unified Remote (Android Apps on Google Play)
Turns your phone into a remote for your laptop. Has multiple remotes - keyboard, mouse, WMP, VLC, Slideshow etc etc.
No need to get up to rewind/pause a movie anymore.
    And works like a charm.

  • Cam Scanner(CamScanner -Phone PDF Creator)
Scan documents from your phone itself. Comes in handy a lot of times.
Also, the scan quality is nearly as good as that from a normal scanner.

  • Google Goggles (Android Apps on Google Play)
Take a pic of anything - monuments, objects, logos, bar codes - and search for it using Google Goggles. Works like the TinEye reverse image search.
All you need to do is click. And search.

  • Mighty Text (SMS Text Messaging ↔PC Texting)
Enables you to send messages between your PC and your phone. You can also send messages from your PC on behalf of your mobile.

  • Shazam (Android Apps on Google Play)
Identify music on the go. No need to ask friends/strangers in a pub or rack your brain over the song that is playing.

  • Toucher (Android Apps on Google Play)
Helps multitask and switch between running apps. You would not understand how useful it is unless you try it.
